With almost a decade of music industry experience under his belt, Tech N9ne has had his fill of empty promises, meaningless recording contracts, and more bogus starts than you can count on one hand. His previous label buckled, but Tech N9ne is back now with a new album and another opportunity to get it right – this time with a music video, a national promotion campaign, and radio play in the mix. It’s time Tech N9ne got the recognition he deserves and this new album, Absolute Power [Msc Music Ent], might bring him just that.
It opens with Tech N9ne levying a bold and fierce attack on the music industry in “The Industry Is Punks,” but he doesn’t stop there. “Yada, Yada, Yada” and “Keep On Keeping On” speak for themselves.
But most of the album is solely Tech, with his trademark fast-flowing lyrics and adrenaline pumping beats. Absolute Power proves that Tech, a Kansas City native, can spin a rhyme comparable to the big boys (EMINEM, DMX.) Guest cameos are limited mostly to partners from Tech’s label, but listen for D-12 (minus EMINEM) in “She Devil.” Absolute Power includes a bonus CD/DVD with six extra tracks and other features making it a good buy, both for its sound and for its package.
