Well known to a swelling group of music critics and ardent fans, Philadelphia's Marah will be performing in St. Louis at Off Broadway on Monday, 13 June as part of an East Coast tour in support of their last release, the critically acclaimed 20,000 Streets Under The Sky.

They will be introduced by author Nick Hornby for both the Chicago and New York City dates (unfortunately, Mr. Hornby will give the St. Louis date a miss). A long time fan and supporter of the band, Hornby will read from a series of unreleased stories/essays written specifically for these performances. Each piece will focus on a specific band or artist, and after each essay is read, MARAH will perform a song by the artist of it’s focus. Some past artists have been The Clash, The Faces, Prince, and of course, MARAH. This segment should last about 45 minutes, and will serve as an introduction to 1.5 to 2 hours of MARAH’S high-powered live set. Joining Dave, Serge and Kirk for these performances will be Adam Garbinski (guitar) and Dave Petersen (drums). They are in the Philadelphia based-band, Squad Five-O, who are signed to Capitol Records.

This is all leading up to MARAH’s upcoming release, expected to be out in August 2005. The band has been writing fervently and of the recording process explains, “This is the most immediate record we’ve ever made. It’s the most stripped down thing we’ve ever done— just us, and a couple of microphones.” The album was recorded almost entirely live.
